Femcon Blizzard 2

My 20 years of Blizzard litho (2 of 2) I alays liked dabbling w/ the scratched and sloppy-like effects on this.

If you don’t mind my story telling (And in fact I did share some of this briefly once before in the first journal) but I was about 3 months shy of 11-years old when I first saw the G1 episode ‘Search for Alpha Trion’ which presented a group of female Transformers for the first time in canon history. A small band of female Autobots lead by Elita-1. I was fascinated, but as a super huge Decepticon fan, I thought it might really be neat to see one. So on November 12th 1985 I drew the very picture you are looking at here of a un-named (for about 2 hours) female Decepticon seeker jet.

We were getting hit by a pretty severe snow storm. Travel was impossible, and snow was reaching up to the window ledge of my bedroom! (No kidding!) It was much too cold to go out so I had just stayed in with my Lovett markers and a doodle pad. Well my brother, Chris saw it and asked who the girl was. Not having a name at that moment, I looked to my frost covered window and said: ‘Her name is Blizzard.’

And Blizzard was born. To date, female Decepticon, Blizzard remains my eldest, longest run for a fan created character. She recently celebrated her 20th anniversary this passed fall and I can still remember just how many times I had mailed her in suggesting, wishing, wanting, and praying that they would please make just one female ‘con. I maintained this push up until about 1989. By that time sadly, G1 had run it’s course.

In 1992 I drew my last and finally portrait of Blizzard on the cover of a fiction story that I never completed. Blizzard would sit dormant for the next 15 years until a renewed interest in Transformers as a retro icon & collectible by 2003 brought her back out and into a whole new world of Transformers fans and appreciation.
