WIP 1931 Realistic Emmett Brown 4

Work in progress. In this photo ...More Prismacolors! Blending, blending, blending. This is also my first time using my Spectrum AQUA watercolor markers I picked up last month. Being a big watercolors fan I had to give them a shot and what can I tell ya? No regrets. Love ‘em ~

Shortly following my completion of the portrait work I did of ‘Doc’ Brown for the Denver Comic Con, I was contacted and asked if I would be willing to try and take a realistic version approach to teenage Emmett from 1931 as featured in the Back To The Future: The Game. Now granted, the character was already based on Christopher Lloyd’s likeness to start with, as was Marty McFly having Michael J. Fox’s, but the game was also done with a cartoon-esque style to it. I absolutely loved the game! I’ve played it several times and for me that IS my Part IV. So then, take this boy on a realistic journey by making him look like Christopher Lloyd just actually transformed into a teenager?! ...How in the heck could I possibly pass that up?! Challenge on!

Needless to say, I must have spent three quarters of that first afternoon watching old episodes of ‘Taxi’ just studying Lloyd’s face and angles as a younger man. I made two separate sketches and I will show both of them here eventually, but I’m going to have to say that this one is the one I’ve been leaning to as my favorite of the two. I just love the boyish grin! It’s so ‘Doc’, it’s so right on, looks like him, looks like Chris, and looks like the game. I love it!
