2013 ACCESS THE ARTS

Angle 4., My entry for the category of ‘inks’ which depicts a scene illustration from the first chapter of what will be the first brand new WINDOWKNOCKER feature since 2001, an addition to ‘Heirlooms’, the RICHMOND 1844 story ~

Terror steadily building now, the words only sounded brave. In truth, Poe’s heart was thudding loudly in his ears and banging inside his chest. A footfall now, a floorboard squeak, a scurry of fingernails on the wall. All these things seemed magnified and compressed in the dark belly of the Pine Apple Church. Silence again, and then the voice came.

“Are you always so bold?”

“No,” Edgar couldn’t see him, but answered honestly. “I do not believe that I am. Where are you?”

There was no response.

“Are you trying to be unmannerly?”

“Sit down.” The voice was so close to his ear that he jumped, startled. The impenetrable blackness was like a stuffy fog, shielding everything. “Did I frighten you?”

“Yes,” he said, breathy and too discomforted for politeness. “Who are you?”

Something brushed his hand, and Poe jerked it back with an audible yelp. It had been like the graze of a spider’s web, something felt but not seen.
